In September 2023, the Christian community in Pakistan once again found itself under severe attack. Homes were destroyed, churches were burned, and families were displaced. Our brothers and sisters are crying for help, and their cries must not go unheard.
The situation for Christians in Pakistan has always been difficult, but recent events have brought new levels of suffering. False accusations of blasphemy, mob violence, and systemic discrimination continue to plague the Christian minority. Many families have lost everything - their homes, their livelihoods, and in some cases, their loved ones.
"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
Psalm 34:17-18
Despite the darkness that surrounds them, these believers hold fast to their faith. They know that God is near to the brokenhearted and that He hears their prayers. Their resilience and steadfastness in the face of persecution is a powerful testimony to the sustaining grace of God.
Through Healing Hands Ministries, we have been working to provide immediate support to those affected. Food, clothing, temporary shelter, and medical care have been distributed to families who have been displaced. But the needs are overwhelming, and the road to recovery is long.
The persecution faced by Pakistani Christians is not a distant, abstract issue. These are real people - mothers, fathers, and children - whose lives have been upended by hatred and violence. They are members of our spiritual family, and their suffering is our suffering.
Yet even in their suffering, these believers continue to worship, pray, and trust in God. Their faith is not shaken by persecution - it is refined by it. They understand, perhaps better than many of us, what it means to take up their cross and follow Christ.
God's faithfulness does not waver in times of trouble. He remains the refuge and strength of His people. And He calls us - the global body of Christ - to stand with our persecuted brothers and sisters, to lift them up in prayer, and to extend practical help wherever we can.
We urgently ask for your prayers and support. Pray for the safety and protection of Christians in Pakistan. Pray for the persecutors, that their hearts would be transformed by God's love. And if you are able, consider contributing to the relief efforts that are providing a lifeline to those in desperate need.
