In May 2023, Healing Hands Ministries held a baptism ceremony that marked a profound moment of spiritual renewal for many believers in our community. Through this act of obedience, brothers and sisters publicly declared their faith in Jesus Christ and their commitment to walk in newness of life.
Baptism holds deep meaning in the Christian faith. It is far more than a tradition or a ceremony - it is a powerful symbol of identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. When a believer goes under the water, they are symbolically buried with Christ. When they rise from the water, they are raised to walk in the newness of life that only He can give.
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
Romans 6:4
The baptism service was a day of great celebration. Believers gathered from surrounding areas to witness and support those being baptized. The event began with a time of prayer and worship, preparing hearts for what was to come. Pastor Dr. Qaisar Shahzad spoke about the significance of baptism and encouraged each candidate to hold firm to their confession of faith.
Each person who entered the water that day had a story to tell - a story of how God had reached into their life and transformed them from the inside out. Some had been following Christ for years and were finally taking this step of obedience. Others were recent converts who, through the teaching at TFH Biblical School, had come to understand the importance of baptism as a public profession of their faith.
The waters of baptism represent a boundary - a line drawn between the old life and the new. For many of these believers, that line carried immense personal cost. In a country where Christians face persecution and discrimination, choosing to be baptized is an act of courage. Yet each person who stepped forward did so with joy, trusting in the God who called them.
After the baptisms, the community shared a time of fellowship and thanksgiving. The newly baptized believers were embraced by their brothers and sisters in Christ, welcomed into the fullness of the body of believers. It was a beautiful picture of the church as God intended it - united, joyful, and alive in the Spirit.
We praise God for every life that was changed that day and for the ongoing work of His Spirit among the people of Pakistan. Baptism is just the beginning of the journey, and we are committed to walking alongside these believers as they grow in their faith.
